Episode 107 of the U2FP CureCast is a conversation with Dr. Elizabeth Bottorff. She is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota, studying sexuality after spinal cord injury. @ElizabethBottorffPhD is conducting an “add on” study to the ongoing E-Stand trial. From the beginning of epidural stimulator research for spinal cord injury, there have been many reports of the recovery of sexual function. Her goal is to shift this anecdotal evidence into hard, empirical data. We discuss the study design and aims, the subcomponents of so-called “sexual function”, the barriers to grant funding for sexual function in general, and arousal in particular, and much more! You can find this episode and more by navigating to the CureCast link: https://lnkd.in/gPKgXxs3 #sci, #spinalcordinjury, #sciresearch, #sexualfunction, #U2FP

Their own documents explicitly state that "The National Institutes of Health enforces an ideological agenda, prompting universities and medical schools to vet potential biomedical scientists for wrongthink regarding diversity....In medical research, lives depend on putting excellence first. The NIH distorts that value, subordinating it to political ideology and endangering those it’s supposed to serve." Even in Florida, "Florida State University’s program, which has hired faculty in psychology and nursing, devotes 28% of its rubric to DEI." Still think DEI only affects fields outside of science? #diversityequityandinclusion #racialequity #ideology #scientificresearch
